Heat Pump Water Heaters 101
Heat pump water heaters are becoming more popular to combat climate change and help building owners achieve electrification. The federal and state governments have incentivized their installation to replace electric (resistive) water heaters and water heaters that utilize a combustible fuel. To accommodate a heat pump water heater, several design concerns must be considered, and additional training will be required if heat pump water heaters are to be installed and commissioned correctly.

The U.S. Department of Energy has recognized this course as “Energy Skilled” in the Heat Pump Water Heater Installation category. This course is designed for building science professionals looking to increase their knowledge of heat pump water heaters.
